Kennedys is a vibrant practice. The firm has expanded considerably over the last 15 years, largely as a result of organic growth and lateral hires made to strengthen key areas of expertise.
We receive a continuous stream of approaches from lateral hires who would like to work here. The firm attracts those lawyers who do not wish (or no longer wish) to work in the Magic Circle environment or who find their own firm too hierarchical. Founded in 1899, Kennedys is known primarily as a leader in dispute resolution, both nationally and internationally. Insurers fund much dispute resolution, but we also assist major companies in construction, manufacturing, transport and banking with dispute.
The firm has some 90 partners and directors and over 450 staff. We have three offices in London as well as offices in Chelmsford, Cambridge and Belfast.
Types of work
We are one of the leading litigation firms in the City and the majority of our partners are dedicated to the conduct and resolution of disputes whether by negotiation, litigation or arbitration/mediation. Our specialist litigation teams handle the whole spectrum of insurance work together with a large volume of work for the construction industry. We have expertise in the transportation sector and a fast-growing reputation for our work in the employment, health and safety, healthcare and insolvency sectors. One of our unique selling points is the quality of service provided to the more complicated London Market sector. We recognise the need that clients have for an across the board service and are, therefore, geared up to do every class of work should that be required. We also recognise the need to be able to provide a full City service to clients and are committed to the development of our property and commercial departments.
